1st Annual Santa Monica Jubilee Jazz Festival
Hosted by Mt. Olive Lutheran Church

Mt. Olive is proud to host the 1st Annual Santa Monica Jubilee Jazz Festival. This day-long event will feature a variety of local bands playing straight-ahead, swing and Latin Jazz. The festival will also feature a “Swing Tea”, where English tea and scones will be served and concert-goers will have the opportunity to dance to swing-style jazz. Food trucks will be stationed in the parking lot in between evening acts.

Suggested Donation:
$30 for Adults
   /   $20 for Students w/ID   /   $10 for Children 12 and Under

Festival Schedule:

1:00-2:15pm
The Gonzalo Bergaro Quartet
The all-acoustic Gonzalo Bergara Quartet plays a modern variant of 1930s Django Reinhardt-inspired gypsy jazz. Gonzalo Bergaro on lead guitar, Leah Zeger on violin, Jeffrey Radaich on Rhythm Guitar and Brian Netzley on upright bass.

2:30-3:30pm
The Janice Anderson Quintet
The Janice Anderson Quartet are a well-known staple at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, often performing at our monthly Jazz Vespers concerts. The quartet features Janice Anderson on vocals, Chris Dawson on piano, David Sills on saxophone, Roger Shew on bass and Sinclair Lott on drums.

3:30-4:45pm
Swing Tea with The Mark Tortorici Quintet
The Swing Tea will allow concert-goers over an hour to dance to swing-style jazz . English tea and scones will be served. Performing during this time will be The Mark Tortorici Quintet featuring Mark Tortorici on vocals and harmonicas, Chris Dawson on piano, Paul Lines on drums, Freddie Johnson on bass and Dan Sawyer on guitar and saxophone.

4:30-5:30pm
Bill Cunliffe with Imaginación
Best known for his innovative and swinging compositions, the Grammy award winning Bill Cunliffe will perform alongside his Latin band Imaginación.

5:45-6:45pm
The Christian Jacob Trio
With Christian Jacob on piano, Kevin Axt on bass and Ray Brinker on drums.

6:30-7:30pm
FOOD TRUCKS
At a separate cost, festival guests can take a break from jazz to eat fresh and delicious food from gourmet food trucks.

7:00-8:00pm
Susie Hansen Latin Band
Susie Hansen and her Latin band will close the festival with their festive take on swinging salsa jazz.Susie Hansen on vocals and violin, Joe Rotundi Jr. on piano, John Belzaguy on bass, Tony Shogren on drums, Kasper Abbo on vocals and guitar and Daniel Castillo on vocals and congas.
