SUPPORT
Pastoral Care
Mt. Olive offers caring pastoral support rooted in ELCA practices. Our pastor provides confidential listening, prayer, and guidance during times of illness, grief, or life transitions. Whether you seek spiritual conversation, comfort, or encouragement, pastoral care is here to remind you that you are loved, valued, and never alone.
Visiting the homebound
Visiting the homebound is a caring ministry at Mt. Olive where members visit those who can’t come to church, bringing them communion and spending time with them in their homes. These visits offer connection, comfort, and a reminder that they remain a part of our community.
Life’s Significant Moments
comfort, and faith-filled guidance.
Westside Coalition
for housing, hunger, & health
The Westside Coalition is a volunteer-run alliance of 81 organizations, public agencies, and faith communities serving the Westside of Los Angeles County, working on behalf of the poor and homeless. Mt. Olive Lutheran serves as their fiscal sponsor.
Mt. Olive supports the coalition by hosting their monthly meetings in our Parish Hall to discuss local issues and learn about policies and actions that make a difference. We join volunteer efforts and collect clothing, food, personal care, and baby items for those in need, working together as a caring community to improve lives.
Reconciling in Christ
Mt. Olive is a Reconciling In Christ (RIC) congregation.
Our community explicitly welcomes people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions, and we are committed to racial equity and anti-racism.
We welcome LGBTQIA+ weddings and blessings in our sanctuary and are open to calling LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC rostered leaders. Each year, we support the national RIC program to continue this vital work. Members can help with this mission by actively participating in welcoming all who come through our doors. This welcome extends to their families and other communities who have been “othered” by the church. Mt. Olive welcomes all.
12-step programs
Mt. Olive is here for anyone seeking support on their journey to healing and recovery.
We host different 12-step groups that meet most weeknights after 5:30 pm, providing a safe and welcoming space to gather, share, and find strength together. To join one of these groups, simply attend a meeting and speak with the individual organizers.
