MINISTRIES

SERVICE

At Mt. Olive, we serve others by stocking a free Little Pantry, offering community meals, volunteering to meet local needs, and joining ELCA projects like God’s Work, Our Hands to support people near and far.

The Little Pantry

Always open!
Located on the corner of
Maple Street & 14th Street
in Santa Monica

Our Little Pantry offers canned and dry food for anyone in need and is open 24 hours a day
7 days a week.

We live in a community where many of our neighbors experience food insecurity, and this ministry helps meet that need. Hunger affects all regardless of employment status, ethnicity or education level. The pantry is restocked daily with food provided by our partnership with the Westside Food Bank and congregation donations. This has become an important way to provide food and care for those around us.

As members of the ELCA, we respond to the reality
that one in seven people worldwide live in poverty.
We support ministries that work for justice, peace,
and lasting change in Jesus Christ’s name, including:

ELCA World Hunger
Lutheran Disaster Response
HIV and AIDS Ministry
AMMPARO Migrant Ministry
Global Refuge (formerly LIRS)

Mt. Olive donates and volunteers in this mission.

ELCA Relief and Aid

Caring for Our Community

We host free community meals in our Parish Hall, hold blood drives, and organize gardening days to care for our public
campus. We collect supplies for people experiencing homelessness, including sleeping bags, coats, rain tarps,
diapers, baby items, socks, and sunglasses. We support local outreach programs such as Food On Foot.
We also take part in the ELCA’s God’s Work, Our Hands day to build personal care kits and fill children’s
backpacks with school supplies and food.

Through all these efforts, we hope to share God’s love in practical ways, supporting and caring for our neighbors near and far. Serving others is part of who we are, and we welcome everyone to join us in making a difference.
