ABOUT US

OUR BELIEFS

At Mt. Olive, our beliefs guide how we live, love, and serve together as
a community of faith, shaping our worship, our care for one another,
and our work in the world.

Our Mission

To serve, invite, involve, and embrace all people in our community, welcoming them to our Christian family, and to allow the Holy Spirit to work through us to nurture faith
and share God’s love.

Our Vision

Mt. Olive Lutheran Church is a church for the whole community. All walks, faiths, and lifestyles are welcome here
every day.

Our Values

Mt. Olive’s values incorporate six disciplines in all that we do:

OUR BELIEFS

GOD

We believe God creates and sustains life, offering healing, forgiveness, and hope. We know God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, revealed in Scripture and in Jesus Christ, who shows God’s love for all people.

JESUS

We believe God came to us in Jesus Christ – fully human, humble, and vulnerable. Through his life, death, and resurrection, Jesus revealed God’s love by sharing in our suffering and taking on the sin of the world.

GRACE

God’s grace, received through Christ by faith, saves us completely. We trust God’s forgiveness and transforming work in our imperfect lives. In response, we are free to live with gratitude, love, and hope each day.

WORD

The Bible is God’s inspired Word and the foundation of our faith. We study its context and scholars’ insights, reading both Testaments in worship, and connecting Scripture to daily life through preaching and learning together.

WELCOME

God’s love is for everyone, and we strive to be a welcoming church. We recognize that some have been hurt by the church and made to feel unwelcome. Mt. Olive is committed to healing, inclusion, and sharing the truth that God’s grace has no limits. You are welcome here.

RECONCILING IN CHRIST

Mt. Olive is a Reconciling in Christ Congregation. That means we are a faith community that is committed to the welcome, inclusion, celebration, and advocacy for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions; that work for racial equity and are committed to antiracism.

FAITH

Faith isn’t just agreeing to beliefs; it’s trusting God’s grace and living in hope. It renews us to love and serve others like Christ does. Faith grows in community, where we live it out together.
